Description
This Language Arts Jeopardy game is a great review for End-of-Year testing! It can also be used as a fun assessment or check-in.
Students will split up into teams to play this version of Jeopardy.
The Jeopardy game contains the following 6 categories:
1. Story Elements - Covers plot, character, setting, point of view, and conflict.
2. Author's Purpose - Students are given an example text (informational, narrative, argumentative essay, etc.) and must identify what the author is trying to accomplish with that type of writing. Covers to entertain, to inform or teach, to convince or persuade, to form a picture in the reader's mind, and to explain.
3. Text Features - Covers title, captions, bold words, glossary, and sidebar.
4. Text Structures - Covers description, cause-and-effect, problem-and-solution, sequence, and compare and contrast.
5. Literary Genres - Covers fiction, fantasy, non-fiction, mystery, and biography.
6. Figurative Language - Covers simile, metaphor, alliteration, personification, and hyperbole.
Jeopardy theme music plays for 30 seconds on each question slide, so students know how long they have to discuss the answer with their team and when their time is up.
After all of the questions have been answered, students will play a Final Jeopardy round. The team that has the most money at the end of the game, wins!
