Abby Weitzel

Hi! My name is Abby Weitzel, and I am currently entering into my fourth year of teaching. I have completely fallen in love with an urban elementary school in Cincinnati after student teaching there, where I have had the pleasure of working the last three years. I was hired in with a large grade to teach kindergarten where I followed the large grade up to first. I was able to stay in first grade for a second year to practice perfecting my craft and skills.
While being hired on with such a large class, the materials were not always supplied as it would not be needed the following year for that specific grade level, going back to smaller grade sizes. I have spent a lot of my own funds making sure my students had the same resources every other child in the school had.

Over the past three years, the expense that comes along with the classroom is inevitable, but every little bit of opportunities to receive help and assistance counts! I am a very hands on teacher creating dynamic lessons that truly involves a child to reach their potentials. With this being said, a student must have the access to the materials to gain and unlock knowledge. I am passionate about what I do and what the students have to contribute to the world, so creating duller lessons requiring less materials is not really a first option for me.

I am truly passionate about what I do, even going back to school myself to be an example for my students to strive to become lifelong learners. It is truly not possible to be in this profession and work in isolation. It is said to take a village to raise children, and every bit counts.
