Hello, my name is Aldercy Batista. I am about to enter my 3rd year of teaching 1st grade in Newark. My first year of teaching was a whirlwind. I was filling in for a maternity leave and just when the classroom teacher was expected to be back, we were faced with covid. I ended up finishing up the year as their teacher virtually. This past year I was given my own class, and I was teaching remote. I did not have the opportunity to purchase manipulatives and resources for the classroom. I began teaching hybrid and noticed how empty my classroom is. Next year, I will be working with incoming ESL students and I am in need of materials to make our experience as smooth as possible.
