Alex Ripley

Hi there! My name is Alex Ripley and I am a first year teacher beginning my career in teaching mathematics. I have worked to be in this position for a long time, and it has not been a simple journey. I finished my degree a few years ago, and around this time I began to experience some alarming physical and mental symptoms. After stepping away from teaching to focus on my health, I was eventually diagnosed with a rare illness called Cushing's Disease. This disease brought me close to death in which I could barely walk, talk, or do other things that we assume will never be taken from us. After a stint in the NIH hospital, I received surgery of a cancerous tumor in my lung, and this set me off on the path to recovery. I am now stepping back into teaching and pursuing what I had hoped to for a long time.
