I teach all subjects (Math, ELA, Social Studies and Science) to 5th grade students in an extremely rural area of Southern Indiana. Many of my students come from homes experiencing high poverty and various types of trauma or adversities that affect them each day. As their teacher, I try to make my classroom their "safe place" or "home away from home". In other words I want my students to feel loved, safe, trusted, protected, fulfilled, needed, and believed in when they are with me at school.
