Ashleigh Barnett

Hi y'all! My name is Ashleigh Barnett, and I am blessed to be a 5th grade reading teacher at Hill Elementary. Families in our community have a long history at Hill. Generations are proud to have attended a school with so much pride and tradition.

How kids learn today is evolutionary to say the least. As a teacher, it is crucial to keep up with the times to best serve our learners! I believe there are two main factors that promote success in the classroom:

1. Climate and culture- I want my classroom to be welcoming, exciting, and a safe place for my students. I want them to feel supported not only academically, but social-emotionally as well. Building strong bonds with my learners is key! Every child holds a special place in my heart. Each school year, I strive to make my students aware that they are important and loved.

2. Engaging and intentional instruction- I am determined to make lessons that are appealing to all of my students. I teach to the four C's- Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking. Implementing technology speaks to our current generation of learners, so I do my best to integrate it in a variety of ways. Through my instruction, my learners will become independent problem solvers who aren't afraid to take risks. They will be resilient and turn each failure into an opportunity for growth.
