In this course, students will be taught how to identify the main idea, summarize nonfiction texts, and write well-structured paragraphs. We will cover key topics such as finding topic sentences, distinguishing relevant from irrelevant details, organizing supporting details, and writing an effective summary. In each class, we will read a short nonfiction text together and practice identifying the main idea, supporting details, and writing a clear summary. Each lesson builds on the last, helping students become stronger readers and more confident writers through consistent, targeted practice.

I have been teaching 9-12th grade English for the last 10 years. I have taught electives such as Poetry, Drama, and even Intro to Spanish. I have taught texts such as To Kill A Mockingbird, Night, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Hamlet. I teach my students how to write research papers, thesis papers, and strong paragraphs using elevated vocabulary and language. I absolutely love teaching!
