Description
This course explores the dramatic transformations that shaped our modern world from 1500 to today. Students will trace the rise and fall of empires, the spread of global trade networks, and the cultural encounters that reshaped societies across continents. Unit 1 covers the basic concepts of history and approaches to world history, the rise of the modern era, and a focus on the power and wealth of eastern empires. This approach decenters world history from Eurocentric perspectives. This class works well as a supplement for learning during the summer, an aid for understanding a current course, homeschooling, or people interested in learning. Each unit will be offered in three to four class segments as separate, smaller, low-cost courses.
