Some parts of the Old Testament are often overlooked:
• The genealogies in Genesis
• The tabernacle descriptions in Exodus
• The ritual purity laws in Leviticus
These sections may seem tedious or irrelevant - but they're crucial to the story and theology of Scripture. In this course, students will gain practical skills to approach these challenging passages with confidence. They will develop Bible study practices that can be applied across Scripture.
Learning Objectives:
1.) Explore often-overlooked sections of the Old Testament to gain a fuller understanding of their richness
2.) Recognize the practical relevance of the Old Testament for modern life--even those passages that may not seem necessary at first
3.) Interpret Old Testament events and passages within the larger context of the Bible's overarching story, rather than as isolated sections
4.) Understand how the Old Testament lays the foundation for and enriches the message of the New Testament
By the end of this course, learners will no longer see these passages as obstacles but as meaningful parts of Scripture that enrich their understanding of the Bible as a whole.
This is the Expanded Version of this course, which offers a deeper, structured study of these neglected passages. This version is designed for serious learners, Bible study groups, and homeschool classrooms, providing tools to engage with Scripture thoughtfully and confidently.
This course includes:
• Over 2 hours of video content, broken into 12 short lessons (5"15 minutes each)
• Introductory reading activity
• Fill-in-the-blank notes for each video
• Quizzes for each video (6 multiple choice questions per quiz)
• Tests for each of the 3 sections (7 short answer/written response questions per test)
• Extension Questions for each of the 3 sections, to apply what you've learned
• Teacher Answer Keys for notes and quizzes
• Teacher Guide for Extension Questions (suggested answers, grading guidance)
• Teacher Guide for tests (grading guidance and rubric summary)
• Conclusion reflection activity

I have been teaching the Bible for over 15 years in a variety of settings, including churches, schools, online platforms, one-on-one mentoring, small groups, and large classrooms. I spent six years as a schoolteacher, primarily with middle school students, but also teaching elementary and high school students. For 3.5 years, I worked as an evangelist and Bible teacher for a local church. I hold a lay counseling certificate from the Biblical Counseling Center, which complements my teaching and mentoring work. Additionally, I have five years of experience providing training in the corporate space at a large financial institution.
