Description
What will be taught?
Students will learn the essential skills needed to complete an academic research paper from start to finish. This includes finding credible sources, creating annotated bibliographies, drafting a research paper, revising and editing for clarity, and using MLA and APA citation formats correctly.
What topics will this course cover?
This course covers finding and evaluating reliable sources, writing focused research questions, creating and formatting annotated bibliographies, drafting research paper sections, revising and editing for clarity, and properly formatting citations in both MLA and APA styles.
How is this class structured?
This is a fully self-paced class with pre-recorded lessons divided into three parts. Each part includes video lessons, guided practice activities, and mini assignments that allow students to apply what they have learned. Rubrics are included for each major task so students know exactly what is expected. The final project is a fully revised research paper completed independently.
How is the class taught?
Instruction is delivered through pre-recorded videos, slides, and visual examples. Students complete hands-on exercises such as writing research questions, annotating sources, and drafting paper sections. Clear, step-by-step instructions are provided, along with rubrics and structured prompts students can use to generate feedback through AI tools.
What is the teaching style?
The teaching style is approachable, structured, and supportive. Complex research skills are broken into manageable steps so students can work independently with confidence. Rubrics and AI feedback prompts are provided to help students review, reflect on, and improve their work without instructor-led grading.
How much interaction is included?
Because this is a self-paced course, there is no direct instructor feedback. Instead, students use detailed rubrics and guided AI feedback prompts to evaluate their drafts, revise their work, and strengthen their final research paper at their own pace.
