Why do people join cults - and why do they stay? In this course, we will explore these powerful questions through the lens of psychology. Each lesson introduces a major psychological theory, paired with a real-world cult case study. Students will critically analyze how cults use manipulation, identity, and influence to attract and control followers.
Using video lessons and storytelling, students will learn how to identify tactics used by high-control groups, build media literacy, and apply theory to real-life situations. This is an ideal course for teens curious about psychology, true crime, sociology, or group behavior.
Worksheets to enhance critical thinking skills are included.
