About

I dreamed of being a teacher since I was 6 years old! That dream became a reality in 2005 when I got hired at Kinoshita Elementary. In 2007 I was transferred to Las Palmas Elementary School to teach in the Dual Language Spanish Immersion program. I taught 1st grade for two years and made my way to 2nd grade, where I have taught the last ten years. The last 14 years have exceeded my expectations, not only by living out my calling, but by the incredible impact that my colleagues and very special students and their families have had in my life. I will forever treasure every moment as I transition into a new opportunity in my teaching career. Though I am sad to leave Las Palmas, I am excited to be a part in launching a brand new Spanish Immersion program at RH Dana Elementary. Beginning in August 2019, I will be starting a new adventure as a Kindergarten teacher in the 50/50 Spanish Dual Immersion Program. In this program I will be the Spanish teacher, teaching language arts, science and social studies - and my partner teacher will teach English language arts, math and P.E. Our students will spend 50% of their day in each of our classes. This means I will be responsible for 60 kindergartners each day! That will require twice as many supplies, twice as many materials, and twice as much storage. Without donors, all this is going to come out of my pocket without reimbursement. My new classroom is an empty slate and it is my dream to make into a welcoming, comfortable, creative, joyful, and inspiring space for my precious little ones that will be starting their academic journey. The cost to make this happen is going to be very high and I can't make it happen without your kind support. Thank you for taking a moment to read my story, for considering a donation of any size and for being a part of this exciting adventure with me!
