About
Hi! My name is Gabriel Gonzalez, and I teach 8th-grade math at a public school in Springfield, Massachusetts. My students are creative, energetic, and full of potential - but many of them have limited opportunities to explore the world outside their immediate neighborhoods.
This year, we want to make math meaningful and memorable by taking a field trip to the Museum of Science in Boston or visiting the exciting MathAlive! exhibit at the Springfield Museums. These destinations offer hands-on exhibits that connect directly to what we're learning in class, like:
✅ Proportions, scaling, and geometry
✅ Real-world data and statistics
✅ Algebraic thinking and logic
✅ Engineering and problem-solving challenges
Imagine students designing a roller coaster to explore slope and acceleration, or programming a robot to understand patterns and sequences. These are the kinds of 'aha!" moments that transform how students feel about math - and about themselves.
