About
Hi everyone!
If you know me, you know that being a classroom teacher isn't just my job, it's a massive part of who I am. For the past 11 years, I've been lucky enough to teach Spanish to my amazing students at Kenwood Academy in Chicago Public Schools, giving them 100% of my energy, creativity, and dedication every single day.
But to take my teaching practice to the next level and truly give my future students everything they deserve, I'm (finally) finishing my Master's degree in Spanish this summer!
I am incredibly grateful to have secured funding and scholarships that cover my direct tuition costs (huge win!). But as you can imagine, tuition is really just the baseline. Because CPS teachers don't get paid over the summer, we're usually master planners when it comes to budgeting for July and August. This summer, though, looks a little different. I'm taking a massive leap and heading to Argentina for my studies, and I'm looking for a little help to cover basic living costs and housing while I'm abroad.
That's where this Classful campaign comes in. While my classes are taken care of, I'm facing some pretty significant, unfunded 'Cost of Attendance' hurdles. I'm launching this fund to help keep me afloat with everyday essentials over the next 2 months, specifically:
• Housing & Utilities
• Groceries & Commuting
• Academic Materials
By helping me cover these foundational living expenses, you aren't just helping me pay the rent, you are buying me the time, headspace, and peace of mind required to fully immerse myself in my studies without the overwhelm of crippling financial stress.
Every single donation allows me to focus less on how I'm going to make ends meet, and more on how I can become the absolute best educator possible for the communities I serve next.
Thank you so much for supporting my journey, believing in me, and investing in the future of my next classroom!
With so much love and gratitude,
Maggie
