My name is Cheryl Delsanter. I have been teaching for 37 years with only a few year off to raise my children when they were little. I have taught in both the childcare field and in elementary school. My favorite age to teach is Pre-Kindergarten ages 4 - 5 year old children. I love teaching them the things they need to know to get ready for Kindergarten and love watching that Ah-Ha moment when they first learn something new. I have been teaching Pre-K for 18 years, eight of which have been in the center I currently work. The hardest part of teaching is not having the funds to have all the materials needed to teach. We really don't get a budget, and everything has to be approved to be purchased by our director. Most times there isn't money for any of the extra fun activities or educational games and materials to be purchased. Just this year we lost both of our computers to old age and I ended up finding an old one for $50 and refurbishing it myself so we could play our Putt Putt games. Many of the toys in my classroom are old and we donated to our center by parents when their children outgrew them. Any new materials and toys that I want to use with my class I purchase myself. If fact 3/4 of my classroom is materials and toys purchased with my own money out of my own paycheck. But, I do it so my class will at least have a few new toys and new materials to help them learn. I'm hoping that through teacherfunder.com I will be able to add to the materials I already have to give the children more materials to help them explore and learn from.
