About
I have been an educator for the past 32 years. I am an elementary school teacher. I currently teach grade 2. I teach all subject areas like math, social studies, science, grammar, reading and writing. In addition I teach social skills. I work in a title 1 school in a low economic community. Many of our students live in shelters or single headed households. Many of our students also have social emotional problems. I love teaching and try to instill a love for learning in my students. I try to teach with hands on experiences in order for my students to know that learning is a part of our everyday lives and allows us to develop as well rounded individuals. I take students on educational trips, bring in authors, bring in real life artifacts during lessons, buy student supplies needed to complete task (pencils, notebooks, paper, crayons, glue, etc. Because our school has low funding, I use a lot of my own funds to make this type of learning happen. I'm hoping that by joining this group I will be able to recieve donations to help me continue in the endeavor of teaching as my students develop into lifelong learners.
