About
I teach Criminal Justice to high school students. My classes are Dual Credit. Earning college credits while in high school is always beneficial, but for my kids it is also a great start to college after graduation. As with many schools on this site, we are also a very low income area, with 86% having free lunch and book fees.
Criminal Justice has a broad range of learning areas and many opportunities for hands on experiences. I take my students on many fieldtrips (police dog training location, law enforcement academy, autopsy viewing etc..) and I invite numerous guest speakers. However, our "hands on" in the classroom is limited. I have a large classroom and plenty of storage space, but not much to store. I am no different from many other teachers, in that I spend about 1,000 dollars out of pocket each year on supplies needed to conduct activities. I also spend about another 1,000 per year on fieldtrip money, class shirts, graduation caps and gowns, winter coats etc...
I love teaching and love my kids. I would also love to have items for my kids each year, that I do not have to purchase on my own. They really need and deserve more than I can provide them.
