Hello,
Let me introduce myself, I have been a teacher for thirteen years. I started teaching after starting my family, so I went to school and studied when my little ones were at school or sleeping. I was able to earn a Multiple Subject Credential, a Masters Degree, and a Specialized Academic Instruction Credential. I have wanted to be teacher since I was a little girl and am still very happy with my choice in career. I changed careers so that I could raise my children and still have a job to help support my family. I have been married for 22 years this August and my husband is also a teacher.
When I started teaching there weren't many jobs available because California was facing major budget cuts in education. I was able to get an internship and started mid-year for a teacher going on maternity leave. My first full year and my own classroom I taught a 2/3 combo and was still an intern finishing my credentials. Each year I was laid off due to cuts but was rehired at the beginning of the next year, new school , new grade level. I have taught first, second, third grade and special day class so I have good experience with the younger grade levels. Next year I will be teaching fourth grade and am really looking forward to it.
