What is it like being a third grade teacher for most of my life... stressful, but rewarding. I have been teaching for 19 years. 17 of those 19 years have been as a third grade teacher. Here in Florida, being a third grade teacher is quite stressful. If students do not pass the state exam, they are retained in third grade. However, seeing the growth my students make by the end of the year is one thing I am very proud of.
I have been honored with the title of "Teacher of the Year" twice since I started working at a charter school 13 years ago. I am also the lead teacher of the Future Educators of America club in my school and am one of the sponsors for National Junior Honor Society.
I graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I continued my education at Florida International University and earned my Master's of Science in reading. I am also certified to teach ESOL student and am currently working on my gifted certification.
My class is in great need of computers. My students benefit so much from programs that enhance their learning. In addition, they love working on the computers, creating presentations, doing research, and working on learning programs. Please help me fund purchasing new laptops for my class. :)
