About
Our school services about 415 students; Kindergarten through 5th grade. We previously were working with a company to have a therapy dog at school. The students loved when the dog was visiting. The dog , Annie was a companion for so many students. Our emotional disturbed students could be calmed down just by her presence. She was also available to them as a reward for reaching academic or behavioral goals. She also visited all of our classrooms, students would light up when she arrived. Some of our students thought of her as 'their pet" since they were unable to have one at their home. To others she was a nonjudgmental friend that they could talk to, read to, and just pet and cuddle! For some it's the unconditional love they are lacking in their life. Unfortunately that company is no longer in business, and my students miss their companion.
