# Screen Printing: Student Design Studio
My students are eager to explore the exciting world of screen printing, a process that combines art, design, problem-solving, and hands-on creativity. Through this project, students will learn how artists and designers use screen printing to create posters, apparel, logos, and original works of art that communicate ideas to a larger audience.
This project will provide our classroom with the essential supplies needed to introduce authentic screen printing experiences to high school students. Students will design original images, create stencils, prepare screens, and print their own artwork on paper and fabric. They will learn how layering, repetition, color, and composition work together to create visually powerful designs.
Screen printing is especially engaging because it connects directly to real-world careers in graphic design, fashion, advertising, entrepreneurship, and fine arts. Students gain experience with creative problem-solving while also developing technical skills, craftsmanship, and confidence through the printing process.
Many of my students have limited access to advanced art-making opportunities outside of school. Having access to professional-quality screen printing materials would allow them to experiment with a process that is both educational and highly motivating. Students will not only create artwork, but also experience the excitement of transforming their own ideas into printed multiples that can be shared with others.
The materials requested for this project include screens, squeegees, printing ink, stencil materials, fabric printing supplies, paper, drying materials, and clean-up tools. These supplies will benefit multiple classes and future students for years to come.
By supporting this project, donors are helping students develop creativity, collaboration, perseverance, and artistic voice through hands-on learning experiences. Most importantly, students will have the opportunity to experience the pride and excitement that comes from creating original printed artwork using professional printmaking techniques.
