Sixth grade teacher in a middle school with 72% low income. As a teacher, I am not only an educator with all the teacher responsibilities, I am also a mentor, a friend, and much more. I am involved in leading an after school extended day program, a dance class. No matter what it is, my door is always open for student. I often have tutoring sessions after school to help students. I like to inspire students to learn in creative strategies and technology. Sometimes students just stay so that they can stay in a safe environment. Many times I have students hungry and in need of essentials. I always have a snack for students and will constantly reward them with pizza parties, cookie decorating (holidays) raffles..etc, which many do not get at home. Much of my expenses go to my students but at a teacher salary, it can be difficult to always help my students when I am limited. I want to help students move forward in the world of technology we have but it can be difficult without the resources to do so.

I teach to make a difference and be the smile students see when it may be tough. I want to continue to encourage students to think and challenge themselves to be critical thinkers.

With that said, I appreciate any assistance that can help me continue to help the futures generations.
