@michelle-greenI have been teaching for six years, all in 4th grade. If you would have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up you would have gotten only two answers; the first lasted until I was about seven years old, and it was that I wanted to be a pirate. From then on the answer was always "teacher". From as far back as can remember I have had a love of learning and sharing what I learn with those around me, both formally and informally. As a teenager I became interested in teaching gifted learners as I watched many bright students who were not only stagnant, but dropping out of education. After three years of teaching 4th grade I had the opportunity to follow my passion in teaching gifted learners. It has been the most fulfilling experience to be able to not only support their academic progress but be able to help them cope with the many social and emotional challenges that come hand in hand with many bright children. By focusing on leadership skills, examples in the world around them, and helping them work together to overcome their challenges, I feel I have been lucky enough to witness the miracle of teaching and wake up excited to go to work every day.
