@nick-zuhoneI teach in a small rural community school district with a unique population. In Beardstown Illinois the school district houses 2,000-2,500 students from k-12. Of that, 52% are of Hispanic background, 10-12% are of French African background, and the remaining are of rural white families. We are at about 75% free and reduced lunches. These factors have limited the growth and development of our children's educational programs and facilities. With our 21st century needs for career ready people and competency to succeed in today's job market, there are some things we need to invest in. Technology, the availability of various tools to extend and explore subjects beyond textbooks, worksheets, and writing reports is more vital than ever. We need to have means to increase and improve the tools available to our students, and develop a sustainability plan to keep current on tools available.
