Description

This resource includes:

1. Compare 'Em: Dividing Fractions and Mixed Numbers - Students are tasked to compare two responses to fraction division problems. Students will use their knowledge of dividing fractions to analyze errors and write out explanations of who they agree with and why.
2. Modeling Fraction Division - There are two versions of this activity! The first version includes models of dividing whole numbers by fractions. The second version includes models of dividing fractions by fractions. Both sets of models are very different so students can see different versions of modeling fraction division.
3. On the Number Line: Dividing Fractions and Whole Numbers and On the Number Line: Dividing Fractions and Mixed Numbers - Number lines are so useful to provide a clear visual representation to show fraction division! There are two versions of this activity. Students can utilize the number lines to draw the 'jumps," or other dividers to help them see the quotient.
4. Match 'Em: Dividing Fractions and Whole Numbers and Match 'Em: Dividing Fractions and Mixed Numbers - There are two versions of this activity! Students match reciprocals, division expressions with multiplication expressions, and division expressions with quotients.
5. Give Me Three…: Dividing Fractions and Mixed Numbers - Students are given different amounts of pizza with three different families. Students must divide the leftover pizza among the family members to see what fraction of a pizza each family member will receive.

A 6th Bonus Activity: Practice: Dividing Fractions and Mixed Numbers - This page includes 15 practice problems. Students will begin to see patterns and the repeated practice will be beneficial in helping them remember how to divide fractions.

There are multiple representations included! Various models, bar models, and number lines are shown so students can visually see the division of a fractions and mixed numbers.
