Description

Your Middle School students will love these fun and engaging activities for the play version of A Christmas Carol. This interactive resource will help your students to examine the plot structure, character traits, and theme with discussion questions, scaffolded notes, and more!

This "A Christmas Carol" resource is based on the play that is found in 7th grade McDougal-Littell Language of Literature books by Frederick Gaines (but another compatible version can also be found online here).

In my class, we read the play scene by scene. We analyzed each scene with a discussion, plot diagram, some notes, and then a compare/contrast graphic organizer as we compared and contrasted the play scene by scene with "The Muppets Christmas Carol".

The learning goals are:

The student can identify and use

➡️ plot structure to analyze a story

➡️ compare/contrast to look at similarities and differences between the text and multimedia presentation of the same story

➡️ inference skills to determine character traits and the theme

Printable and Digital, this resource keeps students focused during this exciting time of year and is a huge time-saver for you!

This resource contains:

✅A link to the play version

✅A link to the audio of the play

✅A link to a Charles Dickens background video

✅A link to a movie version featuring George C. Scott (not the Muppets version)

✅Time stamps for the George C. Scott Movie and the Muppets for each scene

✅Discussion questions for all 6 scenes

✅Printable Notes " A set of notes for each of the 6 scenes in black and white, color, and plain formats!

✅Printable Plot diagram

✅Plot diagram questions (guides) for each scene.

✅Printable Venn Diagram " One for each scene to compare the play to a movie version (I suggest the Muppets version - but the video is NOT included.)

✅Slides to present to the students on a screen

✅Zap review game

✅Printable Final Assessment

✅An essay assessment option with an outline and checklist

✅Challenge activities (for advanced students)

✅Digital introduction to Charles Dickens with embedded video

✅Digital Notes - A set of notes for each of the 6 scenes!

✅Digital Plot Diagram

✅Digital Venn Diagram for each of the 6 scenes

✅Digital essay assessment option with digital outline and digital checklist

✅Digital self-grading multiple-choice assessment

✅Digital versions of the printable challenge activities

✅Teacher's Guide for the digital items
