Description
Since A Midsummer Night's Dream is a play, it was written to be seen as a performance, not read like a book. Having students act out scenes in class can be helpful, but I have found that comparing different film versions pushes my students to a much deeper level of analysis and a more profound appreciation for the many nonverbal elements that add so much to the audience's understanding of the play. There are several movie adaptations and also many amateur play performances posted on sites such as YouTube. (I've included some links in this download)
While viewing the film clips, my students take guided notes. At the culmination of our studies, they use these notes to help them write a 5-paragraph comparison essay. This download includes:
1. A list of recommended film versions
2. Film notes worksheets for 6 scenes
3. Essay guidelines.
Worksheets are included for the following 6 scenes:

Act 2, Scene 1
Act 3, Scene 1
