Description
Are you looking for an engaging end of year Algebra 1 review activity that is low-prep and easy to assign? Students love the puzzle aspect of an escape room! This is a fun way to practice skills and concepts at the end of the Algebra 1 course or beginning of Algebra 2. Escape rooms give instant feedback because students must enter exact lock codes to progress from room to room. Hint cards are an option for those students who need a little extra support. Note that while this is intended to be a digital self-checking Google Forms resource, you can also print the escape room and use it as a non-digital activity as well!
Problem types include:
- Adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials
- Graphing equations written in slope-intercept form
- Factoring the GCF out of a polynomial
- Factoring trinomials with a = 1 and a > 1
- Identifying the vertex, axis of symmetry, and y-intercept of a parabola
- Writing a quadratic equation in vertex form
- Solving a system of linear equations using substitution and elimination
- Classifying functions as linear, exponential, quadratic, or none of the above
- Identifying the solution of a system of linear inequalities
- Simplifying expressions with exponents
- Solving quadratic equations
This resource includes:
- A Google Form escape room with 9 'rooms"
- A second version of the escape room with QR code hints built in (note that a Google account is needed to access digital hints)
- A Google slide deck with all hint cards
- Printable versions of all rooms and hint cards
- Printable answer document
- "I escaped" and "We escaped" signs for fun photo opportunities
- Answer key
- Video directions showing how to assign to students
