Addition & Subtraction Using Numbers 1-20
Goal: This activity and worksheets teach solving a word problem, visually demonstrating the problem and writing out the answer. Instructions: Print out the Pizza, Pepperoni, Sally Character, James Character and as many worksheets as you would like. Each worksheet has multiple word problems (for example: 'There are 5 pepperoni on the pizza. James ate 2 pepperoni and Sally ate 1. How many are left?") To demonstrate this, you or the student will place 5 pepperoni on the pizza, you will then remove 2 pieces and place them on the James character and remove 1 piece and place on the Sally character. After this, the student will solve and write the answer on the worksheet.

Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem
