Description
This lesson was created for Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See. Students complete a close reading and analysis writing activity for a scene from Part 9, May 1944 (pages 425-427). This is a captivating scene where Marie-Laure discovers that her father hid the Sea of Flames stone in her model of Saint-Malo. During this assignment, students read the included passage and after, answer literary analysis questions that move beyond comprehension and instead provide students the opportunity to practice making inferences, making predictions, analyzing Doerr's purpose for using allusions and practice determining the author's purpose.
