It is normal for students, particularly teens and young adults, to get angry; however lack of self-control, discipline, and unresolved anger issues may lead to serious consequences. Anger management is an important life skill that students need to develop to help them control their feelings, emotions, and behaviors in difficult situations, resolve problems, and build positive relationships with people.
This resource features 36 REAL LIFE, HIGHLY RELEVANT scenarios that provides students opportunities to reflect about how they would deal with difficult situations in a healthy and productive manner (despite feelings of anger). Through intense discussions and collaboration with peers, it can also help students develop a better understanding of how to best deal with and cope with anger.
▶️ 36 Scenario Task Cards (COLORED and B&W – with and without GRAPHICS)
✅ These Task Cards can be used as part of a larger lesson, in guided small groups, whole-class discussions, partner discussion before sharing out with the larger group or class, or even one-on-one with a teacher, guidance counselor, or parent/guardian! These four different Task Card variations contain the same scenarios.
✅ You can print the Task Cards out on gloss paper or regular paper and laminate. You may also organize them in a binder ring.

How/When To Use the Scenario Task Cards
⭐ Role-Playing: Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios and demonstrate appropriate responses. Role-playing activities can also be used to demonstrate how to appropriately handle or navigate difficult situations associated with anger. Students can practice and learn the variety of ways they can handle situations that test their ability to control their actions and behaviors. This activity can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.
⭐ Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.
⭐ Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skits for the class.
⭐ Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/ situations. They can evaluate whether or not their approaches to solving problems (despite feelings of anger) is appropriate or inappropriate and offer other possible solutions and/or suggestions on how to best handle difficult situations and cope with anger.
⭐ Discussion: Students can discuss the Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class. They can discuss things like "What can you do to control your anger?", "What healthy coping skills can you use to calm down in situations that make you angry?"
*********************************************************
▶️ 36 Scenario Worksheets (same scenarios in the Task Cards)
✅ This resource also includes 36 Scenario WORKSHEETS with lines, so students can write their responses. Each worksheet contains a scenario related to anger. It's a great opportunity for students to reflect about how they would deal with anger in a healthy and productive manner.
✅ This resource is also included in GOOGLE SLIDES. Text boxes have already been added to make it easier for you and your students!
✅ These worksheets are great for “Quick Writes,” Do Now activities, Note-Taking/Reflection periods, Formative Assessments, or can simply be used as part of a larger lesson or discussion!
