Description
This is a set of area and perimeter math scavenger hunt activities that give student a fun way to practice 3rd grade measurement skills.
To play, scatter the cards around the room. When students find a card, they find the area or perimeter of the given shape and fill in the letter on their code sheet. If all are solved correctly, a secret message will be revealed!
There are 2 separate scavenger hunts in this resource:
Set A: Find the perimeter by adding the side lengths. For some shapes, students will need to know that all sides of a square are equal and opposite sides of a rectangle are equal.
SET B: Find the area by counting the tiles or multiplying length x width. Several shapes are compound and students will need to know that area is additive.
Each set includes:
• 15-16 area or perimeter cards
• Secret code recording sheet
• Answer key
These activities can also be used in your math centers instead of as a scavenger hunt. Instructions included in the file.
