This easy to read, one page passage explains that blizzards:
-can be dangerous natural disasters
-are snowstorms with winds blowing at least 35 mph and visibility of a quarter mile or less
-can cause whiteouts that make it very difficult to see
-form because of strong winds that are created when warm and cold air meet
The passage also describes some of the dangers associated with blizzards (power outages, car accidents, etc.), where and when you are most likely to experience a blizzard, and some ways to prepare when a blizzard is expected.
It includes 10 multiple choice reading comprehension questions, an answer key, and a self-scoring digital version (Google Forms). Color and black line illustrations are included to accommodate black and white printing.
