This Consumer Math Unit covers a wide variety of terms that relate to making a purchase. This is a very functional lesson and each term/ concept is explained in a way that relates to real life. I use this lesson to teach my high school special education classroom all about sales tax, percentages, discounts, subtotals, totals, etc.!
-30 page unit with over 59 math problems.
-covers vocabulary terms such as tax, sales tax, discount, subtotal, and total.
-Examples explaining how to change a percentage to a decimal (two different ways), how to find the sales tax, how to find the discount of an item, how to find the discount and sales tax on a purchase to find the total.
-worksheets that explain percentages, discounts, sales tax, subtotals, and totals.
-worksheets for each instructional page/ vocab term ranging from 5-6 problems.
-Diner Menu worksheets- A menu is provided and the student is asked to solve problems involving subtotal, total, and sales tax
-Concert Worksheets- Charts pretending to be from a merchandise stand as well as a concession stand accompanied with exercises that ask them to find the subtotal, sales tax, and discount!
