Are you introducing how to calculate change from a purchase? Do you have a student that has a hard time subtracting mentally? This unit introduces how to calculate change from a purchase 3 different ways with 2 different options for each way to easily differentiate:
1. Basic subtraction
2. Rounding up to subtract
3. Counting up from the purchase price to the amount paid
This unit contains 18 pages with 58 problems. There are two different options to every instruction page and worksheet to make it easy to differentiate the assignment. There are also two review pages.
I use fake money to explain the process of counting up from the purchase price to the amount paid. There is also a reminder page explaining how most people will prefer a larger bill/coin over multiple smaller bills/coins. For example: Most people will prefer a quarter over 2 dimes and one nickel.
