Calavera Craft/Writing Project - Students will answer reading comprehension questions (EDITABLE) to attach to their decorated Calavera to display in the classroom!
Day of the Dead Summary & Reading Comprehension Questions - Engaging 1 page write-up in English & Spanish of the Day of the Dead celebration, with editable reading comprehension questions to follow.
Día de Los Muertos Remembrance Writing Project & Prompts - Students will create and write a remembrance Ofrenda for either a real person or a make believe person their calavera represents. Includes writing prompts in English/Spanish.
Calavera Craze Crossword Puzzles (Eng & Spa versions!) with answer keys- Fun Crossword puzzle using all of the Día de los Muertos vocabulary for effective review.
Vocabulary Memory Card Game with 16 flash cards - Students will get in pairs or groups of 3 and take turns flipping 2 cards over at a time matching the Day of the Dead Vocabulary with it's definition and a picture.
Editable Writing Prompts on Day of the Dead themed cut-outs - These editable writing prompts (on decorated cut-out sheets) allow this activity to truly be an effective lesson for a wide variety of grades. Third Grade Teacher: Allow the writing prompts to be a few sentences and shorter answers for the comprehension questions. High School Teacher: Turn the writing prompts into a more full scale insightful essay or edit the prompts to make the students dig deeper into the meaning of Día de los Muertos.
This bundle for Day of the Dead Día de los Muertos includes everything to teach a great engaging lesson for All Souls & All Saints Days celebration to a wide range of age groups & grades! Students will be engaged with the project combining their chosen Calavera that they decorate then hang the 3 editable reading comprehension questions (provided in Eng & Spa) from the decorated calavera to display around the classroom or in the halls!
Then, students can complete the Calavera Craze puzzle & get in groups to play the matching memory card game! After learning about La Ofrenda students will then complete a writing prompt project that can be adapted to be great for students in grades 3rd - 12th to customize their own Ofrenda for the Day of the Dead celebration.
