This product was made for students to learn the following: Vocabulary words - compact, democracy, Puritans, Pilgrims, colony, colonists, represent, Legislature, and burgesses and their meanings, the year 100 men left from London on three ships that took them across the Atlantic Ocean to start a colony in Jamestown, who sent these men to Virginia and why they were sent there, how the trip was, how long the trip took, and how the colonists settled into their new home, the effects of building their settlement along a swamp and what happened, the colonists didn't know how to build homes or grow food - the struggles they faced and who helped them learn these valuable skills, how life was challenging for the colonists, what influenced the colonists to learn skills to grow food and build houses, what the burgesses were, the House of Burgesses, and how it was a step towards democracy, examples of laws that the House of Burgesses made, why laws where made, the first and second settlements and where they were located, who came to Plymouth, why the Pilgrims left Europe, what they had to sign before getting off the ship and arriving in Plymouth, the importance of the compact that they signed, who helped the Pilgrims grow crops, trade, and use plants for medicine, the challenges the Pilgrims faced, the Massachusetts Bay Colony, why Puritans left England to go to the Massachusetts Bay Colony, the Legislature - what they do, who they are, how they represented the Puritans, and how the colonists, Pilgrims, and Puritans were similar are all covered in this product.
