To start, students use a 2-page choice board to choose from 12 possible environmental topics, including climate change, environmental policy, and ocean conservation (see below for a complete list). Using differentiated/tiered questions and a graphic organizer, students will research and delve into their topic of choice, keeping track of ideas they come across as well as their sources.
Once students have completed their research, they can select from five project options to showcase their learning, including a slide deck, essay, brochure, video, or social media campaign. Each option is thoroughly explained with easy-to-follow bullet points. Students can use the included proposal form to help focus their ideas and get feedback from the teacher.
To make the process even easier, a list of suggested websites and a glossary of environmental terms are included. And when it's time for grading, a rubric is also provided for easy assessment and feedback.
