Description
Text-based lesson plan - fuel for actual instruction and discussion. I use a technique I call "The Rock Drill" - We 'drill' into place the concept of The Legislative Branch. We explore a democracy versus a republic, and the nuances of the English language involving The Legislative Branch. We also have an interesting component on philosophy, and then we draw Economics and Government together by discussing corporations and lobbyists.
I have pioneered the "Rock Drill" method. You "bore in" by beginning with a concept that is understood by the students and drilling your way to the concept you want them to learn. As you bore downwards, you gain valuable information along the way. For example, you unearth vocabulary words across the various disciplines, unifying concepts, segues into relevant discussion, and the students learn how one subject leads into another.
