The game was initially designed for students young at heart but has been tested with secondary education students and they love it as well ! You're never too old to have fun!

Here is how it works:

1. Come up with seven questions to use during gameplay

2. Open the game

3. Click or touch the in show buttons to trigger results

4. Teams alternate answering questions

5. One point is rewarded for a correct answer or to the opposing team if you get 'ZONKED"

4. First team to reach four points wins

5. We do the rest!

The game is completely automated including the score. No need to keep track of the score or bounce around to confusing tracking slides like other PowerPoint games you may be used to.

Will this game work on my system?

ZONK has been tested on Mac OS and PC / Windows operating systems using up to date Microsoft 365 platform. You will need a mouse or pointer as well as speakers so the class can engage in the game's soundtrack and audio script.

No worries - this game does NOT use macros.

Gameplay tips / classroom management:

The game allows teachers to get creative and play in multiple styles. Get wild and crazy or keep it low key. The following are suggested styles of gameplay, try coming up with your own game style or use one of Professor ZONKS ideas.

THE TIGHT SHIP

If you run a tight ship, no problem. Included in the package are 'Team Cards". They are used when a team or individual student thinks they know the answer to a question. They are also great when you do not want to separate the teams or move seats. Team cards have a picture of the the team captain (Red: Gronk Blue: Gabba). When it's time to answer a question, students just hold up the card. You will know which student to pick even if they are confused and trying to answer for the opposite team!

LOOSY GOOSY

If you have an area where noise is not a factor, this is a fun way to play.

Divide the teams into two groups that sit together. After each question let them discuss. When they agree on a final answer, have them raise their hands or hold up their 'Team Cards". This gives everyone a chance to participate. If you have a student that did not come up with the answer, you can choose them to present the answer for the team.

The coolest part of the game:

We now know that it is easy to play and its impossible to play the same game twice but there is a little more to the scenario. The outcomes 'Thumbs Up" and 'ZONK" are not random. An entire script has been developed based on the score and who went first. Professor Zonk and the team leaders give positive reinforcement and different advice each time a team is at the podium. They also explain possible outcomes for a correct answer or 'ZONK". You have a chance to be the 'COOLEST" teacher ever with your own commentator and classroom soundtrack! Below is one example of the script.

Scenario.:

Red team has 2 points and blue team has 3. The game is complete when one team gets 4 points total. It is red teams turn.

Professor Zonk: 'Its two to three, Gronks red team has a chance to even the score. Be careful Red Team, get 'ZONKED" on this one and its Blue team to the winners circle. Good luck blue team this could be the last chance to save the game."

Gronk (Red Team Captain): 'Mustard? Ketchup? Mustard? Ketchup?.... Catch up! We need to catch up. Let's think together Red Team and stay in the game!"
