Description
There's nothing that frustrates me more than students number-plucking when working word problems. They just pluck the numbers out of the problem and start calculating using any random operation. Numberless Word Problems are a great way to ensure that students are actually reading the word problem and thinking about "why" they are choosing a specific operation. But these aren't ordinary "numberless" word problems. These evolve into "NUMBER-FUL" Word Problems!
This product is made in Google Slides which makes the activity interactive. Here's how it works:
Students are presented with a numberless word problem and given the choose of the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Students select an operation and are given immediate feedback. If they choose the incorrect operation, then a quick hint is given to help students dig deeper into the actions involved in the word problem.
If they get the operation correct, then they move onto the next slide where NUMBERS are now inserted into that blanks!
Students now SOLVE a NUMBER-FUL word problem.
Again, if students get the answer incorrect, they are given feedback on how to correctly complete the calculations. If they are correct, they will move onto the next question.
There are 12 mixed problems, including:
multiplication and division of whole numbers
addition and subtraction (involving borrowing and regrouping) of Decimals, Fractions, and Mixed Numbers
multiplication and division of Decimals, Fractions, and Mixed Numbers
