Description
This interactive google slides presentation has been a staple resource in the GSA (gay straight alliance) that I run in my school. The file contains 6 virtual classroom style "hangouts" including a classroom, a coffee shop, a dance club, a library, an independent theater, and a record store. The objects featured in each hangout room is actually a link that leads students to resources for LGBTQ young adults. (For example, clicking on one of the pictures on the coffee shop wall leads you to the PFLAG website.) There are 63 links to free resources for LGBTQ youth hidden throughout the document. A few "key" slides state what they all are.
This is meant to be an active, interactive document. Every week I place my "bitmoji" into a different hangout scene. You can easily obtain a bitmoji of yourself doing a bunch of different things by adding the bitmoji extension to google chrome. I encourage my GSA members to do the same. Additionally, I change the movie gif featured in the independent theater to a different LGBTQ film each week. (The standard gif included with your purchase is The Rocky Horror Picture Show.) This can be easily changed by deleting the current gif, and then clicking Insert: Image: By URL. Any gif will have a url that will allow you to attach it this way. =)
Each slide also includes a grave icon, which students may use to report dead links. This makes it easier to keep the document current. Links are easy to edit, so if they do become obsolete over time, or if you want to switch links out for others, it is easy to do so. (For example, a few links are specific to the Hudson Valley NY, where my high school is located. I have left them there, but if you choose to change them to links that are more local for your students, that is easy to do.)
