Description
Great to use for Halloween! This complete no-prep, self-grading lesson covers a short biography about Camille Saint Saens, Henri Cazali's tone poem, a French superstition, a riddle, and a YouTube video relating to Danse Macabre. This activity is organized as a digital breakout game using Google Forms.
The lesson flows as follows:
1. YouTube Video [1:12 minute in length] introducing the Game
2. Camille Saint Saens Biography (short answer section)
3. Cazali's Tone Poem (Fill in the Blank section)
4. A French superstition relating to Danse Macabre (word scramble section)
5. A Riddle (one question - short answer)
6. YouTube Video [7:18 in length] featuring "Danse Macabre" (multiple choice video guide section)
7. "You Won" video [5 seconds in length] before submitting
Students can either work individually or in teams. The lesson should take approximately 30-50 minutes and is appropriate for 4th-9th graders depending on abilities. The breakout game "runs" itself - the answer key is built in the google form that is automatically assessed.
