Rationale: The purpose of this K-12 formative/summative tool is to serve as an academic vocabulary inventory to assist students as they reflect on projects from their portfolios. As artists choose words to #hashtag their artwork, they will
be summarizing, classifying, and categorizing their materials, tools, processes, elements, principles, and purposes for making art. This is a culminating activity after regular instruction and their yearlong participation in the "Quack-a-demic Vocabulary" game which is available separately. Art teachers can track artists' comprehension, acquisition, and application of art academic vocabulary. Artists will be able to see their progress over the entire scope of their K-12 school experience, and can use this document to track their own language growth. It will also serve as an independent exploration tool for artists who wish to research a new concept.
Procedure: Artists will receive this Quack-a-demic #hashtag Vocab assignment each time they visit their artist portfolios, and will use this inventory to #hashtag their piece of art either with physical sticky notes, or by labeling the work digitally. The challenge is to use as many of the terms as possible that apply directly to the work they have selected. They should be ready to explain their rationale for discussion at their Artist Receptions.
