Description
This figurative language activity teaches hyperboles with pictures, phrases, and sentences. This hyperbole activity is fun, self checking, no prep, and paperless! I had great success and a lot of fun teaching figurative language to my students. I created these decks in the same order that I taught my students which helped them grasp the concept. This resource can be used on multiple students who are on different learning levels. Included are:
- practice cards with the picture of the hyperbole, name, and meaning
15 - "what is the hyperbole?" multiple choice
15 - "what does the hyperbole mean?" multiple choice
15 - multiple choice sentences
15 - fill in the blank: What is the hyperbole? What does it mean? Type a sentence using the hyperbole (these are open response and need to be graded manually)
The following 15 hyperboles are used in this activity:
- I have a ton of homework
- skinny as a toothpick
- cried a river
- walked 100 miles
- she never stops talking
- waited forever
- I have a thousand things to do
- move mountains
- this box weighs a ton
- I'm so hungry I could eat a horse
- afraid of her own shadow
- jumped so high she touched the sky
- the whole world was watching
- the weight of the world is on his shoulders
- knocked me over with a feather
