Tips to Calm Down Poster - Poster and SEL Lesson on Ways to Calm Down
$1.50
Great Social Emotion Learning Tool! This poster can be used as a lesson in the beginning of the school year on tools students can use to calm themselves down. The poster lists eight different strategies students can use to help regulate their emotions. In addition, teachers can post this in a calming place in the classroom and encourage students to visit the poster when they need a minute to cool down. Looking at the poster will reinforce the strategies taught in the SEL lesson and encourage students to use one or more of them to regulate their emotions. This poster pairs great with another resource in my shop. See Mental Health Check-In!

Mental Health Check-In: A Relationship Building Tool
$1.00
In either a digital or traditional classroom, a mental health check-in is the perfect way to start interacting with your students in the beginning of the day or at the start of each period. Simply copy and paste the mental health check-in box below on to your openers for the day. Teach students that this will be the first thing they do before they begin their opener. Students simply color in (or write the word) of the color that fits their needs for the day. During the short, allotted time you give your students to work on their opener, walk around and look at each student's mental health check-in. Those students who are marking yellow and red, stop and have a conversation about what is going on. Using this in my middle school science classroom was a game changer for fostering relationships and for proving to kids that their needs come before our desire for them to learn for the day. This tool also became a great monitoring tool for collecting data on how students are feeling before the start of each class. If you want to add a small change to your classroom routine that can yield big results in classroom culture and your relationship with your students, this is the tool for you!
