Mississippi Burning characterizes some of the real life events that transpired in Philadelphia Mississippi in 1964 with the death of three civil rights workers. The film explores not only some of the events that occurred during the investigation into the KKK there but also into some of the wider social issues and perspectives of the Civil Rights movement that were happening at that time period.

These film questions will aid both the educator and students in identifying unique parts of the film that require higher level thinking as well as showing some of the directors specifically inserted parts to make the viewer questions some of the social situations of the time period. It also comes with a few final questions that encompass the time period as well as the film itself.

It is a unique film that many high school students of the current generation should experience to get a better view of the world they know very little of.
