Do your students have an aversion to area models? Mine sure do. My students especially struggle with transitioning to using area models when multiplying decimals, but I can never find good resources for them to practice. So, I created two sets of worksheets for Multiplying Decimals by Whole Numbers using Area Models.
These worksheets begin with a modeled example and then gradually release students to complete the area models independently. There are 2 sets of worksheets: decimals x single digit whole numbers AND decimals x 2-digit whole numbers.
This product includes:
- worksheets for both multiplying decimals by single digit whole numbers and by 2-digit whole numbers
- an examples page for each with a "you do" problem - use as a quick review or notes page
- problems varying in difficulty, some requiring carrying or bundling to the next place
- detailed and complete answer keys are included.
