Does your reading pedagogy include structured lessons in the Science of Reading?
Start these OG lessons after your students have mastered their letter names, sounds, and can decode/encode CVCs with blends. The ten lessons in this set include:
Welded sound -ng / -ing suffix
Welded sound -nk
Z FLoSS rule >> -ff and -ss
Z FLoSS rule >> -ll and -zz
-all says /all/
-ck digraph is at the end of one-syllable words after a short vowel
-dge digraph: no English word ends in J
-tch digraph
Closed Exceptions end with -ld, -nd, and -st
Past tense -ed ending says /id/
Each lesson has 12 steps, divided into two parts: decoding/encoding practice and decodable/dictation application. The steps are:
Sound Deck and Memory Word practice
Read 20 words -- mixed practice
Review the previous phonogram
Introduction of the new phonogram
Concept practice --
This may be the phonogram, a syllable type, morphology, vocabulary
Sound Deck practice
Write phoneme sounds
Spell 10 words - mixed practice
New phonogram practice
Memory Word spelling
Decodable Text reading practice
Dictation sentence writing practice
