Description

Text-based lesson plan - fuel for actual instruction and discussion. This is a prized example of my technique, which I call the "Rock Drill." The lesson starts with an abridged history of the American (1776) Revolution, with only the bare essentials left in (but with details that inject life into it). Rather than simply telling the student what the Legislative Branch is and proceeding from there, I start with a narrative of the Revolution and efficiently drill to the core, where we discuss what was so important about founding a Republic versus other forms of government.


My "Rock Drill" method is supplemented with concepts from other branches of academia so as to maintain a unified educational experience. Switching from History to the literary reading assignment (not included) and then back to History assists the developing minds by training them to welcome any edifying experience as part of the whole person - and yet the main thrust of the "drill" is to reach the goal, which is comprehension of The Legislative Branch.
